About the course

Substances hazardous to health are a relatively uncommon cause of workplace injuries, but the consequences that do occur can be relatively major and long term, such as asthma and cancers. Basic health and safety training provides a good introduction to awareness of substances hazardous to health, but anyone required to use hazardous substances would benefit from focused training.

Who is the course for? Anyone who handles hazardous substances, including cleaning chemicals - suitable for chefs, kitchen porters and dinner ladies.
How long does it take? The course is delivered in 3.5 hours and assessment is by means of a short objective test of 20 questions. Students are encouraged to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in co-operation with managers and supervisors.
