Schools Training - Safer Educational Visits and School Excursions

About the course

Following a number of tragic incidences involving schoolchildren in the last few years, there is growing concern amongst school staff and parents about ensuring the safety of pupils on visits. This course is designed to increase the compentence of the leader and give the school more confidence when undertaking school trips.

Who is the course for?

All staff, including head teachers, teachers, group leaders and support staff, who lead school trips and other hazardous activities.

How long does it take?

The course is covered in a half day. It covers a wide range of excursions and includes relevant case studies and practical exercises, in addition to tutorial sessions. All course materials are provided.

Where is the course held? School excursions are usually a team effort, so In House offer on-site training for your staff. This means that you can choose a time convenient for you and your staff to attend.
Any other information?

It would be a great loss to the school if previously successful trips did not go ahead. Completion of this course will prepare attendees to look carefully at their plans for excursions, and understand what to do if something does go wrong.

One recent candidate summarised the benefits:

"I was not fully aware of the many possible pitfalls in taking a school trip - I will certainly conduct more detailed planning and preparation for future trips. I received in-depth and relevant information, so I feel I can now carry out some much needed Risk Assessments"
